Details
The sterile surgical suture Monofast is an absorbable synthetic monofilament.
The use of the Monofast suture causes a reduced inflammation reaction, followed by the generation of local tissue fibers. Thanks to the hydrolysis process, a gradual loss of tension and an eventual absorption take place, and the suture is metabolized by the tissue. The tension reduction takes place without a significant mass loss and after the first week is at the 68-78% of the initial strength, while decreases to the 30% of the initial strength after 2 weeks. The absorption completes after a period that goes between the 90 and 110 days after the surgery. The Monofast suture is recommended for soft tissue surgeries.
